ASP.Net Developer Salary Expectations

I'm looking to relocate to Stellenbosch or Somerset West, and would like to enquire about my salary expectations.

The company Im currently at is inland, and I've estimated that I'll need to earn about R30k pm for the relocation to be worthwhile and to achieve the same living standard.

I'm 26, with 1 year statistical programming experience, 4 years experience as an ASP.NET C# developer and a B.Tech IT degree.

I'm comfortable with MVC, SQL, AngularJS, Bootstrap, jQuery etc. and am currently also responsible for our live servers' maintenance (DB replication, IIS, DNS fallback etc.).

I've been in contact with recruitment companies and am still awaiting a response.

So, is R30k pm at age 26 realistic for a web developer in Somerset West and Stellenbosch?
 
I would say aim higher. I am nearly 28 now. I live in durbs and with my bonus, my ctc is R40k+. When I was 26, it was around R26k.

So yeah, maybe look for R35k since you are in CT.
 
That's in line with your experience, aiming higher would always be a good thing @shauntir, but if the OP wants to relocate, depending on how urgent he wants to do this (or what he is willing to sacrifice to do so), I'd stick with a lower expectation and go from there.

Stellenbosch is still in-land though... not sure who lied to you and said it was coastal.
