Hi. I have a problem updating m bios. I created a boot disk containing the flash utility and the update file. When I boot into DOS and type at A>
\ ASRflash 775S61_1.20 I get an error "command not recognized". I have tried a lot of commands e.g asrflash or ASRFLASH but get the same message. What am I doing wrong? Btw it is the correct bios for my board ;)

you don't know DOS commands? :D

There's probably no file called ASRflash

Do a dir to see whats on the disk

...GRAPJAS :)...There is a file ASRflash..but when I give the command it just says "command not recognized" and btw it is on the disk:(

I need to flash bios because I think I mucked it when trying to boot from a portable HDD..everytime I try to plug a device in I now get a hard reset...so that is why I want to flash it (corrupted??) but it won't work.

I created a boot dvd with Nero 8 and added the two files ARSflash.exe and 775S61_1.20

The Asrock flash guide says when you get to A:> you need to type in ASRflash (one space bar) and the then the bin file name 775S61_1.20.

It would look like this:

A:>/ARSflash 775S61_1.20

The enter

then it should flash etc

But it doesn't??

It just comes back with the error "command not recognized"

What am I doing wrong???

Please help:(:(

maybe you added the files to the DVD and not the A drive boot image. And in that case you've not created the disk right as it's not advisable to have mscdex etc and other TSR's loaded up when you flash the bios. do the disk again. Or boot from a stiffy disk, not DVD. Doesn't Asrock have BIOS flash utils that run in your OS ( XP ) ?

Rather remove your CMOS battery from the pc for a minute than flashing your BIOS

will CMOS battery removal reset the corrupt bios???

only joking.

My current Bios is 775S61_1.10 and I want to flash it to 775S61_1.20 ....

but ok I suppose I could get the battery out with a kitchen knife or two

hehehe

How do you know the bios is corrupt?
does asrock actually list that fix for the latest firmware?

Dare I say it " Asrock Rocks"
but isn't this a very entry level M/B? - take it back to the dealer - let him sort it out!

Still trying to flash...no success yet...

Cany someone please tell me step by step how to make a boot DVD and add the files so that I can flash the bios...I think I'm doing something wrong somewhere..please help (be kind). The files I need to load to flash the Bios are ARSflash.exe and 775S61_1.20 (I have Nero 7). I created a boot DVD using the Nero DVD option to create a boot DVD but its not working...
