Asset Tagging

Hey guys...

I am looking for a piece of software that i can use for asset tagging, idealy what i would like to do, is have all the hardwares specs printed onto a barcode and stick it to the asset ,and then have a scanner read that information back into a database of sorts... Any ideas?
