Assistance: Building a budget, gaming PC.

Motherboard suggested: GA-B75M-D3Hp.

I can't find any information on the type of onboard graphics card it has.

I might even replace the GPU at a later stage if the cheaper ones run the games/programs (Dota 2, HON, WOW MOP, GW2 etc.) decently.

My 2 cents:

Cooler Master Elite 311 Plus: R425
(this is a pretty awesome cheap case... it's painted black on the inside, has bottom placed psu and it allows for cable management)
Cooler Master Silent Pro M 500W: R883
(quiet, modular and effecient but if you want something cheaper I'd get the Corsair CX430)
Gigabyte P61 USB3: R778
(It's the cheapest non mini atx board, has plenty of slots that'll allow for a sound card or sata 3 ports for your SSD later down the line)
i5 2320: R1832
(you could take an i3 but an i5... has more street cred/e-peen extension)
Corsair XMS3 4gig: R292
Leadtek GTX560: R1827
Seagate 250gig HDD: R508
(Now choosing the hdd is quite tricky because you definitely need space to put your stuff on but the current prices are still a joke compared to what they were and you could always go 2nd hand... but it's risky since it isn't easy to test the state that an HDD is in)

Total: R6545

The smarter budget thing to do: get an i3 and a second hand graphics card.
Long term wisdom: get an awesome psu and a case that you really like. Why?

• You'll always have to look at your case no matter what's inside it
• A lot depends on your psu even though it doesn't make your performance better eg. how many HDDs you can have, what your airflow will be like, the performance of the gpus you use, the amount of gpus you use, the amount of noise your PC makes etc.

I also just wanted to ask about the GPU.

Would the Gigabyte GV-N550WF2-1GI GTX550Ti be okay for a few months? Just till December 2012.

Or perhaps even the KFA² 56NGH6HX4TXZ, GTX560, 1GB 256BIT GDDR5? Was linked earlier.

I know Duff-man suggested the Gigabyte HD7850.

Can't you live with the onboard for now? Seems like a waste to buy a gpu now and then replace it a few months down the line. Unless you sli that 550ti or use it as a physx gpu or even sell it but it would be a loss.

+1 for ponder's suggestion, but what I would also suggest is that instead of buying the GTX 550Ti, spend around an extra R300 an get an i5-3570K, mainly as it has Intel's HD 4000 intergrated graphics compared to the i5-3450's HD 2500 intergrated graphics, which is in most cases twice as fast as the HD 2500 and can play most games (including BF3) comfortably at 720p, and you can always overclock the iGPU (Intergrated Graphics) for better performance if needed.

There are also many other advantages of the i5-3570K such as, better overall CPU performance, overclockability etc.

The Gigabyte B75M-D3H doesn't actually have an onboard graphics card, it makes use of the intergrated graphics (iGPU) found on some of the Intel processors.

Hey guys, well.. Going to buy the PC parts on Thursday.

So far:

Motherboard = R822
PSU = R641
Case = R254
HDD = R691
CPU = R2,275
RAM = 251 (X2)
Optical Drive = R164

Total: R5312 (excl. delivery)

Going to use the onboard graphics for a month or two, and I already have a screen.

Do you think it will be okay? Anything else I might need? Will the components work together?

You don't really need i5 3570K unless you planning on changing you mobo in the future for overclocking.. Cos the mobo you got there is not really an overclocking board so you can save a few more pennies there..

About the CPU, Duff-man suggested it seeing as I would be using the onboard graphics for awhile, and the CPU had the built-in HD4000 graphics. Do you think it is necessary?

Upgrading the motherboard at a later stage is a possibility though.

The HD4000 is comparable to entry level discrete cards, if gaming was in mind then nothing short of an HD7770 or similar at the very least.

IGPs suck...especially Intel's. Sure Ivy Bridge is better than Sandy (Hd3000 vs Hd4000), get a good cpu(Corei5-Intel kicks rears at stock) and a mid-range card(HD6770/GTX550 both +128-bit cards) and play away.
