I have a Mac that I use as my daily computer. I recently got ADSL installed at my office. All the PC work fine on ADSL. My Mac connects to ADSL, but I am not able to view any websites through Firefox. Skype works fine and I can even download stuff through Xtorrent. My only problem is the fact that I cannot use any Browser. Hope some one out there can help.

Weird, so Safari and Firefox don't work? Check the Network settings in System Preferences.

Let's start - what are your network settings?
And the ADSL - does the router have any filtering/firewalling etc set on it?

I have checked my network settings, and everything seems fine. I entered the Username, and password exactly as given to me by Telkom. It seems that my Mac does obtain the following information.
IP Address: 41.145.54.134
DNS Server: 196.43.38.190 & 196.43.42.196
NetBIOS Name: DSL-145-54-134

I have subsequently deleted all the telkom settings, and re-entered it as PPPoE connection as sugested when given a Username and Password.

Rather set that stuff up on the router instead of screwing around with pppoe settings.

sounds like a dns setting problem.
Skype runs off ip and I'd bet your torrent program does too.

Check the 'advanced' in your mac's network settings and see if it is 'allocated' dns servers.
Even if it is, try adding 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to the list (googl's dns servers) and see if that fixes it..

Open Settings. Go to the Network. Check if the network priorites are setup correctly. On your left, the type of connections (USB, Wifi, PPPoE etc.) should appear. Under the window is a + and - button. Next to it is a gear button. Click on it and select the Order (or Prioritisation setting). Ensure that your ADSL is set to the highest
