Assistance Required - Cisco 1750

Okay- it seems we followed the same pattern of thought here.

I spent most of tonight loading various images- to no avail. None of them see the WIC.

I've already sent TFI an e-mail 5 minutes ago. I have 32MBytes of RAM on this box and I don't know what the PLUS features are but for basic routing I presume the plus features are not needed.

Well, it's either this, or I will have to find an X.21 to ethernet adapter thing.

This is the only forum so far in SA where I can ask for help without being either ridiculed or not being helped at all. I've had this router for over 2 years now, and for the first time I've found the right forum, where the people are kind enough to help me to get it going. And I've being given a crash-course in Cisco IOS

I had a quick glance at the difference between 12.2T IP and 12.2T IP PLUS, and the extra features that IP PLUS support is mostly related to ISP-like environments (BGP, WCCP, VPDN, IPv6 (..?)). However one thing IP PLUS does have that might be nice to have is PPPoE.

Well, it's either this, or I will have to find an X.21 to ethernet adapter thing.

If you have a switch that can do VLANs, you can split the onboard FastEthernet into two logical devices and use that...

PPPoE is nice yes, and what I wanted originally but since I am going over to xDSL no longer needed.

I am still waiting for that company to even respond to my request. Thanks for your help so far, I am learning volumes here.

The plan of action is thus:

Get memory upgrade quote and if acceptable, purchase
Then install it and off we go

I presume the ROM monitor will allow me to TFTP an image to a new flash that is presumably blank?

Yeah, spot on. You might have to "format" the flash first.

I'm afraid you'll have to speak to an authorised Cisco person for IOS images. They are copyrighted and protected and stuff...
