ebay do them for about £10-£15 (not much use to you , I know) however, I did read once that it doesnt take much to convert your average software modem into an fxo card (some soldering, and thats it), but for all the searching I have done on google I cant find any other references to this....perhaps a very well kept secret?b The bits below refer to an intel software modem which doesnt require modding
<edit, quote from slashdot:>
1. POTS lines will work. You will need an FX0 card per line. Not practical if you need a lot of lines. There are some multi Line FXO cards available. FX0=Hook up to telephone lines. There is a flavor of Intel Modem that will work as a single Line FXO card. They are pretty cheap and would be a good way to build a cheap test or home system.
Well that was one of my first thoughts, why can't I just use a regular modem. Might be something to investigate. I have 3 lines at home and would not mind hooking them up to a PBX for "educational" purposes.
I have a couple of modems lying around so it might be worthwhile to do some more research into modding them.
I wonder if the dialogic cards would work (the kind telkom uses) they are expensive but you can generally find them for free if you ask around.
I guess the Intel works because it is a winmodem and passes all commands directly to the CPU????
