Anything is possible if you have loads of money. Take, for example, Aston Martin's Vanquish Zagato concept. After debuting its latest concept, customers basically threw themselves at Aston's feet, promising to buy one if it's ever put into production. Now, hey, what do you know, Aston found a way to make that happen. Money talks, friends.

Aston Martin will produce just 99 of these drop-dead-gorgeous automobiles, based on the standard Vanquish. The Zagato's 6.0-liter, 12-cylinder engine has been massaged to produce about 592 horsepower, which should push this car to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. The suspension's also been modified for a "unique" driving experience, whatever Aston means by that.

But the real meat and potatoes of this car lies in its design. Simply put, it's a stunner. It utilizes Zagato's trademark round taillights, and the body panels are all made from carbon fiber. Elements of other Aston Martins appear in its design, as well, like the side mirrors based on the One-77 and the rear profile that reminds me of the new DB11. It's like a greatest-hits album, except way more expensive.

The interior is equally spiffy. Carbon fiber appears in a herringbone pattern, alongside a bit of bronze and, if the buyer desires, aniline leather on the vents and rotary dials. Zagato's Z is emblazoned on the headrests, and a Z pattern is stitched into the seat backs.

Deliveries begin in the first quarter of 2017, and if you're interested in buying one, you're probably already too late.

No love for the AM Zagato?

When first unveiled just one month ago at the prestigious Concorso d'eleganza Villa d'Este at Lake Como in Italy, the Vanquish Zagato Coupe was merely a concept - an astonishingly beautiful one at that.
But the British carmaker could not have expected the level of demand generated when the bespoke V12 jaw-dropper was revealed, with buyers begging for the car to go into production.
A mere 33 days later, Aston has confirmed 99 will be built for customers.

Remember the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato from a few months back? Well, after confirming that this striking coupe will go into strictly limited production, the British automaker has unwrapped this: the Vanquish Zagato Volante.

Yes, Aston Martin has essentially lopped the roof clean off the Vanquish Zagato in response to “overwhelming customer interest”.

Like the coupe, just 99 units of the Vanquish Zagato Volante will be built in Gaydon. And, like the coupe, each one will be powered by the brand’s 6,0-litre V12 powertrain, uprated to 441 kW (expect a zero to 100 km/h time of around 3,7 seconds).

Of course, no roof means no signature Zagato double-bubble design. In fact, Aston Martin hasn’t provided a single image of the Vanquish Zagato Volante with the roof up, so we’re really not sure what it would look like were the heavens to open.

Still, we’re pretty sure the 99 customers – who will each receive their new open-tops in 2017 – won’t be taking their new steeds out when the sun’s not shining.

Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato

The Aston Martin Zagato Volante is an extremely exclusive open-top masterpiece with a superb 5.9-litre V12 engine with 592 horsepower (441 kW) under the hood.

This large motor certainly needs to breathe in a lot of air which means a fairly large grille up front. Aston Martin will be happy to install a black plastic grille for next to nothing but this is a car that deserves the best of the best.

That component in question is a single-piece aluminum grille that is an extra option over the vehicle’s standard black grille. Together with the matching small decorative grilles around the taillights, this aluminum grille takes no less than 3,000 hours to machine and complete. To put that number into context, an Aston Martin One-77 takes 3,000 hours to be built in its entirety.

Just three exterior details on this car will set you back an additional
£30,000 (approx. R530k).

Aston Martin DBS GT Zagato: ultra-rare special previewed

More detailed preview images show the production DBS Zagato, based on DBS Superleggera and only set to be sold as part of a £6 million pair

Aston Martin has released more realistic renderings of the new DBS GT Zagato, a limited-run reworking of the DBS Superleggera created to celebrate Italian styling house Zagato’s centenary.

Although still digital images, the new shots remove some of the exaggerated proportions of the previous renders, showing what we can expect for the final version to be revealed in the coming months.

The new machine is limited to 19 models, and is being sold exclusively as a pair with a DB4 GT Zagato Continuation model. The DBZ Centenary Collection will cost £6 million, plus taxes.

The DBS GT Zagato is an extensively reworked version of a DBS Superleggera, and takes styling cues from the original DB4 GT Zagato. The car’s styling was conducted by Zagato and Aston Martin’s design team.
