Hi Forumites,

Anyone successfully use the following Astrum AD-HDSV-MF HDMI converter? It is basically an interface between the digital HDMI signal output from my laptop and the analogue VGA input on my projector. uploadfromtaptalk1439322602139.jpg

Been struggling to get it to work and not finding practical information regarding this product on the internet. If I pull the VGA connector out slightly or keep it skew it sometimes works, but not consistently getting this right.

problem with these converters are, passive and active.. most devices, monitors and projectors, need to be told that there is a device on the other end of the cable.. this is usually handled by one of the pins in the cable.. an active converter will send this 'im alive' signal while a passive adapter wont.. not sure how this applies to hdmi converters, but this is what i discovered with our cto's laptop and adpater back in the day 4 year ago..

If it's like my one it only supports progressive scan.

It does work sometimes when the connector is not seated correctly, so I doubt it is that.

In any case I've now returned it and got a German manufactured Lindy brand. It works first time..
