So I have been using the ASUS AI Suite it give me a variety of options and information. But how reliable are the CPU temperatures I mean it goes from 52 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees Celsius in one second then back again in the next two seconds why? and has anyone else had this issue?

I've had that issue when the CPU heatsink was not properly seated, because I thought that the arrows pointed in the direction that you have to tighten it...

Hmm so thats why the CPU heatsink always doesn't want to go in easily. I thought the same thing. But somehow I always make it work.

Give Speedfan a go, might help.
Will give it a go now.

Xzibit: those stock Intel coolers are really a mission to install.
To release the CPU cooler, you turn the pins in the directions the arrows point and then pull pins to release it.
To install the CPU cooler, rotate the pins in the opposite directions of the arrows, align the pins as accurately as you can with the mobo and then simply push the pins down. If you can't get the pins pushed down, release the CPU cooler and try again
^^ That is how I do it in any case, and it's supposed to be easy, but I usually have to repeat it a couple of times until I manage to get all the pins pushed down.

It is normal.. don't worry.. When I had my air cooler, my cpu could hit over 80C unload then instantly drop to 40 once the test finished.
And don't use Asus AI!! Rather jump into the bios and do it yourself!! way more fun :) and you'll learn then understand alot more...

nakedpeanut: you can do stuff with Asus AI that you can't do in the BIOS :) - like automatically overclocking/underclocking the FSB when the PC is under load or idling.
Aside from that automatic adjustments, you can do much more from the BIOS like nakedpeanut said.

Hmm, I can't think that the CPU temperature could drop from 80'C to 40'C in a few seconds, unless you have a massive CPU cooler that can transfer heat into the air VERY fast.
Even with my massive TRUE (Thermaltake Ultra 120 Extreme) CPU cooler, my temperatures won't drop instantly from 80'C to 50'C!
I've only witnessed something like this when the heatsink was loose. You can do a CPU benchmark with like 7-zip, but I would not advise this if your heatsink is loose, because my Core i7 860 reached like 95'C within 2 seconds after starting the benchmark when the heatsink was loose!

I need to go home and re-install my cooler... why would they make the instructions on the pins for removal? Every cooler gets installed, not every one gets removed. FAIL in my opinion.

I use the EPU software to do that (also comes with the asus mobos) was standalone, might be integrated now?

I'll upload a youtube vid now, although I have my WC loop so it's ~60 - 35 drop...

But I do plan to buy some better thermal paste and get better fans for my rad.. these don't have enough pressure..

EDIT: well that was a useless exercise.. [deleted]
youtube compressed it and it's now unreadable...

Ah ja. I'm actually using the EPU software and not the AI Suite.

WC is different, since you can exchange the heat so much better (faster).

Unfortunately I don't have another fan bracket for my TRUE CPU cooler, otherwise I could've tried a push/pull setup :(
I'll see if I can just cable tie another fan onto it and see if I can get near instantaneous temperature drops...
