The Eee Pad is a Windows 7-based device that uses an Intel CULV Core 2 Duo processor and a touch-sensitive capacitive screen. It can be used as a multimedia player, e-reader, Web-browser, or, with the help of a keyboard docking station, full-featured PC. Asus will be releasing two versions of the Eee Pad. The EP101TC will come with a 10-inch screen and the EP121 will ship with a 12-inch screen. Asus claims both systems will deliver at least 10 hours of battery life.

What do you guys think of this product? IMO, it will start a bunch of patent law suits if its successful...

And, I would be more inclined to buy this type of product than the iPad.

"No specific ship date was given."

Against Apple ?

The iPad was not the first of these products - some Taiwanese company had a similar product well before Apple - the iPad is just a clone.

I find this very uninteresting. If I get a tablet I don't want it to have a full desktop OS. It won't be anywhere near as intuitive or responsive. A tablet device needs a bespoke OS, just like a smartphone.

Give me a tablet (something like an Ipad) for R4000 with Wifi and 3G and 16GB storage (+SD card Storage).

Agreed, Android or some stripped down Linux, not full Windows. I hope we see these devices at a nice, almost impulse-buy price, because for me that's the only way I'm going to own one :)

I'm pretty sure you can dumb down a full blown OS to accomodate n00b users.

I can see a tablet becoming a major part of my life. I'm just not sure that tablet is the iPad. But it certainly won't run Windows 7 whatever it is.

So it's a netbook with a removable screen? Well that's definitely more appealing.

No, it seems like it is a screen with an optional keyboard docking station.
