Microsoft really seems to be in it to win it this time around in the mobile space.

They really need to leverage their dominance of the PC market to gain a foothold of the tablet and cell phone market.

Windows 8 looks very promising.

You are aware that the ARM version of Windows 8 is speculated to only have Metro and no Desktop and certainly no support for legacy desktop software.

So in my view its no more a "real OS" as what iOS or Android is, in fact some might even argue that its much less due to the lack of support(Number of apps will grow but right now they suck)

I think the biggest problem with Tablet vs Slate is the battery life and always on capabilities. Give it too much oomf and battery life suffers, to little and its noting more than the other tablets on the market.
