ASUS Eee Pad transformer

I just wish it had 3g :-/.

Even if it did I would have taken the WiFi only version. My cell has 1 button hot spot, so I can connect to the net from where ever I am and don't need to go get another contract to line Vodacom/emptyn pockets.

This is not an option for me. I have tried it with my Galaxy S and my iPad and its just not as simple as everyone makes it out to be. Plus its a battery killer for the phone. Not worth it.

use tab to charge phone, (one part of the) problem sorted.

Anyone know if it has a full sized usb port on the main tablet or only on the dock?

That review gets slated- still sounds lekker though.....

Interesting review. Even without the keyboard he rates it better than Xoom. I didnt even know it uses the same screen as the Ipad 2.

I just know mine is ordered and paid for, just waiting for delivery. Cant make the time go fast enough :(

High in demand they say

We're sure you heard the rumors when hanging out in your ASUS fanboy haunts, wearing your ASUS logo hats and medallions, talking your crazy ASUS lingo with your fellow ASUS scenesters. Or maybe you thought something was up when Amazon sold out immediately. Either way, there has been plenty of chatter in the gadgetsphere as of late about the Eee Pad Transformer. Why is it so hard to find? Are component shortages to blame? Quality control issues? We've heard plenty of speculation, and now ASUSTek spokesperson David Chang is weighing in on the matter. According to Netbook News, the company has seen overwhelming demand for the device, and is currently planning to put 100,000 units on the street in May, followed by an additional 200,000-plus in June. "If the demand continues to increase substantially," said Chan, "then we will have to continue to ramp up production in order to fulfill our customers' demand." You know, that's exactly what we would do if we were in that situation!

Landmark is getting them in on monday (9th may). They have it listed at R4500, but dont specify exactly which model it is.

Yeah, I see they have 2 listed, though the pictures are way off. The one pic is a Win7 tablet and the other is the ASUS Eee Pad MeMO. Makes me wary of bringing my credit card anywhere close to them.

All the estimates have changed looks like we will only see them in June

I need wifi and 3G. Wifi for using ADSL when at home, and 3G to stay connected when travelling. Bummer!

Well wait till June/July for 3G, its out then

Its interesting why Asus went the other way around, all other tablets release 3G 1st and the WiFi models follow later on. I sepose they wanted to corner the market that was looking for WiFi only before other tablets.

Personally I am one of the WiFi only people. I dont want another sim/contract and my phone has tether with 5G p/m so works out for me :)

Anybody checked with Landmark what models they have?

If you have tethering (especially an android phone) than you shouldn't spend on a 3g model. Mostly redundant.

As i have said before, it is not always convenient to have to tether to a cell phone. Plus having to make sure 2 devices are always charged is lame. I have been doing it with my iPad for a few months and i swore i would never get a tablet again without 3g.
