ASUS Eee Pad transformer

Try Opera Mobile. All the functionality seems to be available now, but still not a completely smooth experience. Changing between mobile, tablet and desktop mode didn't change anything for me.

Ive had the same thing with FNB. I can login in fine but most of my options are not visible. I also cant scroll down...

I have also had problems with SBSA on the Xoom browser - now using Opera, a bit better but still troublesome - at least I can transact with that.

I have no problems with the browser on my Desire?
I have full access to all functionality on FNB using the stock browser.

I don't think my phone ever has mobile view checked.

It's nice to be able to copy & paste the OTP numbers from you messages to your browser.

And here I use to think Nedbank use to have the crappiest internet banking experience of them all smileing, cause for me its business as usual.

Just a word of advice.... Dont use the pre installed Zinio, it Sucks

Rather install the proper one from the market https://market.android.com/details?id=com.zinio.mobile.android.reader
I must admit I was surprised to find local FHM, You and Huisgenoot in it nevermind Landbouweek.

For the none tablet owners you can check out http://za.zinio.com/ to get a taste of the magazines you can subscribe or buy single issues

Things like this is gonna make paper die one day....

I checked out the site. And I have to say, their selection is good, but in general I don't like the whole concept of Zinio. I don't want something that perfectly replicates the experience of reading a dead tree magazine on a tablet. I rather want something designed for a tablet, with different layout, hyperlinks, etc. For example, I would much rather have the Economist app than an Economist Zinio subscription.

Of course, the problem with this is that not every magazine has a tablet app, and fewer still have apps for Honeycomb. Hopefully that will change soon enough though.

On that note, when are the are South African banks going to make native Android apps already? Just about every bank on the planet seems to have them.

Yeah there is that interactive apps. For that type of apps to work you need people to pay big to cover the programers and all to be able to deliver on a monthly basis.

Problem is most people can do fine for free with the likes of News360, Ratab and Taptu. I would love for Zite or Flipboard to hop on over to Honeycomb as well.

Edit: oh and Feedly on Android also looks cool

Ha. Too true. The big cities have their advantage. Its nice to be able to pick things up instead of having to wait and rebel tech were awesome in getting it for me.

At least now when I'm lonely in my hotel for that time I have a new toy to play with.

Edit* Just had to write something with my keyboard. Just need to get used to the size but its much better than typing on the screen :)

My TF 32GB is now rooted, has a custom ROM and overclocked to 1.6GHz. The best tab just got better :)

LOL, what rom did you use?

Prime! 1.4. Seems to be the best and quite happy with it so far.

For those that are keen to void their warranty, here are the steps to gain control over your device.
Be sure to do a nandroid in case you want to go back to stock.

1. Root (be sure to do the CWM step too)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125714

2. ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052380

3. Get Kernel Manager from the market and install Netformer (currently 1.5).

4. Get SetCPU from the market and bump to 1.6GHz. 720p movies are super smooth. Not tested 1080p - yet.

5. Optional - Update to CWM 3.1.0.1 to preserve internal storage when you factory reset or wipe.

I am looking now at what the best kernel is. Will revert if I find something better.

Please post if you find a better config than what I have posted above.

I'll stick to just rooted for now, as I dont see the need for custom roms yet. ;)

Lol. I can't help myself. Definate improvement over stock.

How is your battery life? I have been on it constantly since 10H15 and battery only down to 48% now!! Freaking excellent IMO.

Battery lasts me still a whole day.... well playing 3D games and testing loads of crap so won't even know if its good or not.
As for media playback I had smooth 1080p playback on stock so don't need extra speed well not yet.

I'm torn... I thought this would be perfect for taking notes at work, and replacing my netbook for travel. But then I saw that it doesn't have a usb port on the tablet itself (I was planning to not bother with the keyboard). The problem is that I use usb quite a lot when travelling - I backup photos and gps tracks to usb; watch movies from usb; charge usb devices... some of that I could replace with sd cards, but I've already got quite a lot of usb storage, and don't want to waste that and switch to sd just because that's what the tablet can handle. And it wouldn't help with the devices that charge via usb, either.

The alternative is to get the keyboard... but then that's another R1800-ish, and it might make it too heavy and bulky for convenient travel (I use an 8.9" netbook at the moment, so I'd already be going bigger)... and I don't think I would use the keyboard much when I'm not travelling, otherwise I might just as well use my laptop.

The other alternative is to wait for another tablet to come out that does have a usb port that can do what I want... but from what I've seen, it looks like this'll probably be the cheapest decent, android tablet out there for a while.

Decisions decisions...

You could get the Acer Iconia A500. The upcoming Toshiba Antares and Archos G9 will also have full-size usb ports.

I had ruled out the Iconia because it seemed to be a lot more expensive than the Transformer, but then when you add the keyboard dock, the prices start looking much the same! I'll have to look into it in more depth.
