Only get it on the 19th tho... MAN I hate waiting...

This will officially be my first mobile computer ever... (its not replacing my desktop tho, that is just not done!...)

I have one question.. What exactly is a " 8x DVD Super Multi Writer"? Is it different from a normal 8x dvd writer?

Hopw much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking? That GTS360M hasn't had any good reviews. Rebadged old tech from nVidia.

Just a headsup in case you didn;t know

I didn't know that.
Just a quick question tho. Besides the claim on SemiAccurate.. how do we kow its the same tech? I tried to google it, and every other website use SemiAccurate as a source, but they don't state their source. How do they know? Do they check the design specs of the card?

Is the GTX260M a better card?

I got it for just over R14,500
I could go up one and get the notebook with the GTX260M (plus a whole lot of other goodies) for about 2k more.. but it would be a bit tight....

The GTS360 is slower than the GTX260 - Proof. Its currently position 27 and 20 you need to look at. But its true, all nVidia 300 series mobile cards are simply re-badged 200 cards.

Edit - G73JH will be a beast! The Mobility 5870 is the best single card mobile GPU on the market right now

I have no reason to doubt that it is... In fact I'm sure that it is given Nvidia's recent history.. I just want to know how they know.

I managed to juggle a coupla things that will now allow me to get the G73JH, that's got a HD5870. AND it looks like a stealth bomber. (I'm not sure if this is a good thing)

Good choice to be honest, the GTS360 looks like an under clocked GTX250 which is quite a bit slower than a GTX260.

Quite easy to tell if it's old tech or not, run GPUZ and check what the core is and it's probably/definitely G92 which is older than GT200 which is the GTX260 and up.

GTS 360M is basically a faster clocked GTS 260M (with GDDR5 in this ASUS config). GTS 200/300 series uses a different core, GT 215 (40 nm - same core as desktop GT 240), to the GTX 200 series, G92b (55nm - same core as desktop GTS 240/250). Mobile 200 series chips do not use the same core as desktop cards with similar names, and no mobile chips have a GT200 core.
