Asus revision 3?

That motherboard is revision 3 if you look at the model number: MBASP8P67-MR3.

Yes it will work, but like Lounger said, make sure it's the "P67-B3" chipset. ... it should have been in there description.

Like this :
Asus P8P67-M LGA1155 mb with EFi mouse-controlled bios ; intel P67-B3 , 4x dual channel DDR3-2200(O.C)/1600 , 7x s-ata with raid 0/1//0+1/5/10 ( 2x SATA6G + 4x SATA3G + 1x eSATA ) , 1x parallel ATA133 , on-board ALC887 7.1 audio with optical S/Pdif out + gigabit lan + ieee1394a ; 1x pci , 1x pci-e(1x) , 2 x pci-e 2.0 (16x/16x+4x) for Quad-GPU CrossFireX ( no SLi ) , with 2x USB3.0 + 8x USB2.0 , with EPU + TPU + DiGi+ VRM , 2x PS2 , support optional serial + parallel port add-on cable , with EPU + TPU + DiGi+ VRM , 2x PS2 - m-atx

OMG, please stop confusing the OP
That motherboard is 100% fine for any LGA1155 CPU (like the i5 2500K)

I'm building a PC based around the Intel i5 2500k and I'd like to know if it would work with the following motherboard:

https://www.take2.co.za/electronics-asus-p8p67-m-socket-1155-motherboard-9303262.html

I'm concerned because the motherboards labelled revision 3 all explicitly state that they support second generation intel i processors and the above one doesn't. Is this a problem?

Yes, it will. It's a P67 chipset, Socket 1155. The B2 stepping of the chipset is susceptible to the SATA port bug which may cause performance to degrade over a few years, the B3 stepping is not.

It should have a "B3 Revision" label on it

If it doesn't, don't buy it.

****ty advice, you can exchange the older models for a B3 at no charge any time when the dealers get new stock, or from ASUS South Africa directly, like I did. The old B2 stepping boards have been recalled so they just swap it out. Just keep all the accessories, box etc.

Besides:

That motherboard is revision 3 if you look at the model number: MBASP8P67-MR3.

^The only person who knows what they're talking about^

Here is your problem LGA1155.

^This is just too stupid for words (facepalm)^

Why go through that process? Just imagine having to ship it back re assemble your pc. That might not be a one day thing.
I made sure I bought the rev3 for my i7 2600. I don't have to worry about all those things.

The first post was a bit vague, which is probably why the answers to this thread differs so much, as well as a couple of people who posted crap.

Second generation Core i CPU's simply refer to the Socket 1155 (Sandy Bridge) CPU's, which is exactly what the i5 2500k is.

The motherboard is a B3 revision motherboard if you look at the product code, so you don't have to worry about the SATA II problem, or swapping the motherboard for a B3 revision one.

The motherboard is fully compatible with the i5 2500k CPU, so you can go ahead and purchase both that CPU & motherboard, and then a moderator can close the thread.

Thanks for clearing that up, much appreciated. Was just worried, because I've actually ordered it already and it's on its way :) Last minute jitters suck.
