Asus Rog Ally

Crysis remastered at 900p at medium sits at 60fps, may drop to 50 when it gets a bit busy but compared to 2 months ago where I was lucky if it went over 45.

I've freed up some space from my D drive and moved it to the end of the partition table.
Will see if I can successfully dual boot Nobara when I have more time. Will let you guys know

I gave it a quick go yesterday.
Booted the Nobara drive but it didnt want to load past the grub screen.
I'll try again this weekend. Perhaps I have to disable secure boot, but that will definitely kick windows into panic mode and ask for my bitlocker key (Which I dont have lol)

There are mixed reviews about it in the Ally community, but overall positive, with some people reporting lower temperatures.

But decided against it. Already have a 1tb 2230 drive, not gonna spend 4k for a 4tb drive so kinda pointless for me personally

It seems I have some issues with my ROG Ally and the power.

So my main pc got the Blue Screen of death and turns out the SSD failed. I decided to just used my ROG Ally as my main pc and handheld.

Currently have it on my bought 100W charger. No matter what hub I try it only shows 25W and plugging in directly give 30W under Turbo and Manual mode.

When I switch it to Turbo mode it shows 25W but in game it boosts like to 52W and drops to 45W and settles at a constant 30W but the thing absolutely cooks at between 95 and 100C.

In manual mode the max I can set is 30W just like the Turbo mode is showing but in game it's capped at 25W and does not exceed that at all even with an aggressive fan curve that keeps the temps low.

Why would Turbo be on 30W even though it shows 25W and boost to the max wattage but cook while the manual mode caps at the selected 25W and will not exceed it? There is a FPS difference of between 5 to 8 FPS on the Turbo cooking mode vs the Manual 25W mode. On Turbo if I game extensively like this I will fry my SD card because it's really hot that side.

Has it had all the updates? Cause I know on the older firmwares it wouldn't work on any charge but it's own, also on the manual 30w set your fan curves higher, as the default ones are horrendous.

Update on this, it's been shipped. However...

Upon closer inspection, I noticed I bought the wrong one :( It was supposed to be the Long board, for 2280 drives. I bought the 2230 90 degree extension instead.

So I’ll just grab the one from your Amazon link, thanks.

Yes all the updates in myasus app, windows and armory crate. I don't know if it's the power plug, cable or hub or even just a software issue. Turbo mode even though it shows 25W is 30W in game but manual just stays at 25W doesn't go higher at all. Maybe I should just leave it on Turbo. If it fries the sd slot then it does what else can I do.

Very frustrating.

If it's performing at 30w does it matter what the front shows?

Oh another thing I did notice on the second one, it won't hit 30w and it reaches really high temps if the graphics driver is borked, so maybe check that?
 
What's new with the latest MCU 314 update?

On a side note, my angle adapter ( the incorrectly ordered 2230 one from AliExpress) arrived in ZA yesterday. Expecting delivery next week :-)
