Asus Rog Ally

I didn't specifically say locally, I said attainable.. Stuff off of temu is attainable to us and have ordered before.. but would have just liked specific recommendations for items people have experience with..
Okay well the ones I've put links to. I've used on my sons or mine :). What you really need is the case, really handy.
This if you want to connect to a monitor
This to extend the life of the analogue

Do not buy any cases that go around the Ally, the tpu ones suck and they all cause it to overheat.
Decent set of headphones is also needed, but that is a personal preference.
Power bank
Check this out on takealot: Winx Go Ultra 20,000mAh 100W PD Power Bank
Spare power supply for around the house
Check this out on takealot: Andowl 100W Fast and High Speed Type C Mobile Phone Charger/ No overheating

I got 2 TPU covers.

One generic one with a little kick stand to hold it up. This is good for it standing and using a keyboard and mouse and also long downloads standing up right.

The other is the Skull n Co official grip which I haven’t tested yet. This has no kick stand but feels a lot more professional and pleasing.

I’m going to test the Skull n Co this weekend.

The Asus ROG Xbox Ally handheld gaming console has been spotted on Amazon US ahead of Gamescom 2025. The listing, which has now been removed, confirmed several key specifications and suggests the launch is close. The event will take place in Germany from August 20 to 24, with the opening night on August 19.

Should have more info and pricing specifics this week.

ComputerMania already have it listed - no local pricing yet.

And, price in dollars for the X confirmed to be $899.
Im expecting it to be at least R20k here.

Avoid. I think you'll get like 10-15% improvement in FPS over Rog Ally.

This is better:

40 CU RDNA 3.5 iGPU in that thing vs 12 CU RDNA 3 iGPU in ROG Ally and Rog ALLY X. It will smoke the Xbox Ally.
The new GPD handheld will have RTX 4060 Laptop GPU performance.

Yeah but what will it cost lmao

Did a quick Google search for the GPD win5 price. $2099... that's almost R40k for a handheld man. Thats going to have to be a big NOPE from me, I like games and portability, no way I could justify something like that to my SO or bank account xD

Same here. I will even look at the cheaper one to play the games next to my pool in the summer. I have a Series X and this will be the back-up portable system for me.

Those igpu / ai engines are **** turd expensive, anything with AI now is crazy expensive especially in a handheld.

The lower end GPD is around R20k while the top of the range is like R65k.

Still wouldn’t buy one tho.
