Asus RT-56U and D-Link DSL-2500U

Anyone have any experience with the above setup?

I am looking to get the Asus RT-56U Wireless together with a D-Link DSL-2500U modem for my first ADSL set-up. Comments on either of these pieces of hardware would be appreciated!
 
I've been generally happy with my 2500U, configured in pretty much the same way as you suggest. I'm using a TPLink WR1043ND, running OpenWRT as my "WAN router", with the 2500U in bridging mode as a pure layer 2 translator. The TPLink is doing the PPPoE dialup, the 2500U just translates PPPoE packets from ethernet to ADSL. One potential complication is that it can be tricky to get to the 2500U's statistics page to track things like whether the line is synced or what the SNR is, etc. Earlier versions of OpenWRT didn't make it easy to route to other devices on the PPPoE ethernet interface, but it is not a problem with the current mainline version.

In english hahaha ok that sounds complicated. I might have to give you a shout when I get the hardware on how to set it up!
 
The DSL-2500U is a rock solid unit we've got lots hooked to IPCop/PfSense firewall routers in bridge mode at clients.
 
Just ordered the DSL-2500U! Got it at a steal through the company that I work for at R250!

I am questioning myself about getting the Asus RT-56U, All the reviews I read are great, but the comments below all the reviews are pathetic and complain about everything from its range being limited to 3m to it loosing connection all the time. The problem on the other hand is what else to get <R1700 :confused:


perhaps I should suck it up and go for the Asus RT-AC66U
