Has anybody out there managed to get a machine running with an Asus Striker II Extreme mobo and more than 4GB RAM (DDR3)?

I have 4GB but I would like to upgrade to 8GB before I let Windows 7 loose on it. Just need to know what brand of RAM is being used if anybody has got it right. The SIIE is a pig of a mobo when it comes to RAM. If I remember right there are only about 6 sticks of RAM that are certified for it and there is nothing certified in more than a 4GB configuration.

<facepalm> I should have got an Intel board. Damn the onboard water cooling! :o

Dude, go to Prophecy.co.za and log onto their forums. I think Deadmeat has had quite a bit of experience with the SIIE.

Why go 8GB.. I have 8GB and it doesnt even make that much of a difference when I had 6GB.

and besides, if you don't have a 64bit OS, it won't work.
I say, keep your cash, but yourself the new ATI HD5850 (with a bit of saving)

I also found this, might help: (dunno if it's the same Mobo) - BUT COOL!

Sweet mother of gawd!! But my mobo came with the water blocks for the NB and SB. I don't game so I don't think I will get any rewards from chucking out my 8800GTX Ultra for a new card. I do however run some VM's so the extra RAM might be helpfull. Also my PC is dual boot Linux and Windows both 64bit so I would definately get the ram usage.

When I first got the board I got 8GB of good gaming RAM, can't for the life of me remember what brand now. It cost me a PACKET!! And it didn't work. No matter what settings I used in the bios, OC'ed not OC'ed. Best that would happen is about 30 minutes of runtime before freezing up. I chucked it all out and got 4GB (2x2GB) of Kingston value RAM and Bob's your auntie! But I just don't know if throwing another 4GB of KVR in will "upset" the board again.
