Hey Guys,

I wonder if someone can answer a question, I have just picked up an Asus Striker II, the board has an FSB of 1333, and rather stupidly I did not confirm one hundred percent if my core would run on the board.

I have the Intel QX9770 which is clocked at 1600 FSB. Will the core downscale to the board? Or will it not run at all?

While on the topic, the board also has Tri SLI capability, anyone using 3 x 9800GTX? And is it worth getting the third? I have two, because I have the two 98's is the reason I picked this little board up.

Sadly tri sli looks like crap.

My single 9800gx2 would beat your tri sli setup by the look of it. Seems you get very few extra with tri sli.

It’s clear that NVIDIA has really got its dual GPU SLI technology sorted out, but when you start mixing it up with three or four GPUs the performance increase while present, is very small, especially in relation to what it costs you to go down that route.

Is it jealousy I can see? I reckon a 9800GTX Tri-SLI setup will win against your 9800GX2. I don't know what rigs you have checked but a nicely setup Tri-card setup looks quite nice. I agree with the cost and performance, it doesn't make sense especially as OC doesn't even seem to pass in the vocab of the OP but hey he has a QX9770 for crying out loud.

Sorry i forgot to post the link

Sadly my 9800gx2 does beat a 9800gtx tri sli purely because sli is pointless after 2 cards for the most part so not jealousy at all.

Why would i need to be jealous of 3 cards in sli that cannot beat my 9800gx2? LOL

I played cod5 demo only and it ran fine, whats the problem? Personally i could not give a crap how nice tri sli works, the performance is so tiny it is not worth it. You know something sucks when a 9800gx2 can beat 3 gtx's :D. Also i have nothing to jealous of, if i wanted i could go buy a crossfire board and run 2 4890's but i don't see the point in it as i only play a few games which do not require that power. Just pointing out that a 9800gx2 beats tri 9800gtx and the 9800gx2 is under 2k now. To me it looks like it would be better to sell both 9800gtx's and buy a 4890 performance will be better with the single 4890.

I am jealous however of the sli 295 owners and the mars owners :D, now that is enough to make me wet :D.

AAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHHHH:sick:

I was wondering how the GX2 would beat *2* 9800GTXs in sli when the GX2 is just 2x8800GTS's in sli. 1x9800GTX is better than the 8800 right...

Lol Well yeah the tri sli thing is something I may consider as I have the two cards, and I have them for next to nothing so adding a third well, it would cost more to take your family out to dinner lets put it that way :P

Thanks for the replies, I am getting a bigger chassis today to fit the board and the cards so I will see how it all runs. Now I just gotta find some PSU cables haha. Freaking realised I shipped my extra 12v GPU cables to ozzland with the family. Dammit.
