Asus Touchpad issue

Good morning folks my mom bought her a Asus M509DA with a Ryzen 3 processor. After the initial setup the touchpad stops working and there is no trace of the hardware on the system. You can find it in the device manager. I tried installing driver but its not working and the Asus Smart Gesture software installation fails. We took it back to Computer Mania who had it for a few days, I collected it yesterday evening and after the initial setup of windows the touchpad stopped working again. Fn + F6 does nothing and pointing devices are enabled in the Bios. A USB mouse works fine.

Any idea what could cause this?

You could try booting an Ubuntu Live USB and see if the problem persists.
That might tell you if the problem is hardware or software related.

I tried this now and it still does not work.
