Just come across this piece of kit, what do you guys think of this :

I have been in the market for an Ultrabook, but this seems more flexible, and reduces the need for a 10" tablet (I will sell my Asus TF700T+Dock.

Of course, I am looking at this as an integrated whole, with the dock, but to sometimes also use as a tablet.

For on-the-road use, I can't really see anything out there beating this.

After all, it is full Windows 8, and runs MS Office, Adobe Photoshop CS6, etc, etc, etc.
 
Yip, looks really nice.

The only issue is no built in 3G modem. I cannot understand how Asus can design such a high-end device without built-in 3G.
Also, I think it will be rather expensive. Looking at other similar devices / Windows 8 touch screen netbooks, etc.
 
Yes, would have loved it with 3G. However, I can hotspot my phone or use my mifi E586 router.

And it will be interesting to see the price, but featurewise it competes with the Asus Zenbook UX31A, so I guess that it will have a similar price.

Wish that it had a lit-up keyboard like the UX31A !

But it also supports USB3 and 1Gbps Ethernet, which is a first for a device like this.
Pretty sure that I will get one of these, I almost hit the button on a UX31A last night, before I became aware of this.

Note that this tablet officially supports SDXC, so it will support massive SDXC cards, such as 128GB and larger (not sure what the SDXC limit is ?).

Edit : I see that you can get 256GB SDXC cards.

I am going to dump a notebook, a netbook, and an Asus TF700T tablet, and replace them all with this device.
 
hi this a very good ultra book i have the UX31e and i absolutely love it
1 issue i have picked up with them is that after about 6 months they chassis or bottom cover tends to start flexing
and so 1 of the screws at the bottom just fell out :wtf:
but other than that it is brilliant !!!

IMO it is at this point that Asus is going to become a mainstream player, after years of supplying motherboards and graphics cards, and gradually edging into notebooks and tablets.

Their latest stuff is just really cool, from the Nexus 7 right through to this device.
 
Howzit, now that these are available, was wondering if any of you have bought it and if so what are your thoughts about it? Thinking of getting one, but can only find i5 versions in SA.
 
They lack memory. 4GB simply isn't enough these days and from what research I've done, you can't upgrade it either.
