So I have been due for an upgrade since last month and wanted to hold out for the Asus Transformer Prime Tablet BUT on twitter this morning, Vodacom said that they wont be stocking this.

Now I need to figure out who will so I can port, I think it releases next week

Anyone else waiting for this Tablet? :)

Not sure if I'll get it but DO WANT so it would be nice if the SPs stocked it and came up with some deals etc.

I dont think SP's will be stocking it as it does not have 3G. Reason ASUS dont do 3G in the rest of the world is they dont like SP's meddling with there products. Lets hope the Prime's 3G models dont go the same route as the older ones and stay Asia only.

As for people getting it, I am waiting for any shop in Europe to stock it, I have friends that is in Europe till the 22nd, with enough cash to bring me a WiFi Model.

thanks, that's something i didnt know, that the Prime doesnt have 3G and is wifi only, perhaps i'll just opt for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1". Just that the Asus has such brilliant specs

You are welcome.

I know many people prefer 3G models, I am just lucky that I prefer WiFi only for the following reasons:
  • Battery life is much better, as 3G does place an extra strain on the unit.(Can get a weeks standby easy because the 3G does not constantly drain)
  • I have WiFi at home/work and if I do travel I can always tether with my cell phone (also eliminates the need for 2 contracts)

true that! wonder if i'd be able to tether it to my Blackberry, you make sense about the battery life

Will there even be a 3G model - or is it going to take almost a year again?

I would want a 3g model. I do have wifi at home and at work but tethering is extra effort and then drains the battery life on your phone.

As I pointed out, hope we get one in SA, cause if we do it would kill all the other Android tablets.

If you spot anyone that has a TF102's you welcome to mug him to get your beloved 3G, well either that or import one yourself ;)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

DAM YOU ASUS. No stereo, only one speaker on the device. Man if there ever was a crap decision on the device removing the second speaker is it, whoever decided on that should be dragged outside, hung upside down and shot in the stomach to bleed to death.

Anyway... here is a hands on review from Android Central:

It says there are more than one idiot working at ASUS.

1 for not having 3G units and no 2 for trying to act like a dam iPad and only have speakers on the one side.

I hear you, definitely one of those WTF were you thinking decisions

I sold my original TF101 because I couldn't handle no 3G. This decision is truly retarded. I guess ill just have to recommend ipads to my mates.

Yeh... guess I'll be getting an iPad...

I'd go for the FNB offer, but not since its gone up... I'll wait for the iPad3

WebAntics are getting them in. You can put your name down for a preorder.

I'd I had to choose between an iPad 3G and a TF Prime Wifi only, I would still go Prime!
