i just bought this from the fleamarket with its Lan cable attached and the power light comes on so i am assuming it works.

will i be able to use it for internet in another room?

same here i see on telkoms website they mention isdn and i assume its like adsl so it got me thinking if i should download the driver and try it maar ek is 'n bietjie bang that i will mess up my adsl/internet connection in the laptop.
