Well, I ordered my ADSL about 3 weeks ago. They phoned me earlier this week and said that my ADSL installation date is 24/03/2006. I phoned them again yesterday to confirm this and they said everything is great and they'll see me on the 24th. Well....they phoned me early in the morning today to confirm they would come around the house at about 14:00.

So, we all know what happened: THEY NEVER PITCHED.

There I was sitting and waiting for them the whole day and nothing happened. I can't say I'm suprised, in fact, that's exactly what I expected from them....nothing as usual.

So to Telkom, with compliments from me, a big FAT "UP YOURS". Druk dit waar die son nie skyn nie.

Ja

They missed 6 appointments in my case - and I took 6 days leave to be there... sucker i am.

Well they wont help me much with online gaming. I need Circuit switched data...not packet switched :(

Take the self install option where you can to avoid meeting the "special technicians" required to install ADSL. The moron that came to do my 1st install didn't even know where network options was on Windows XP using the classic view interface, and I still ended up phoning them to finalise all the settings for the router. Ah yes, I forgot that it was a D-Link router and not the Telkom 1. Is that what u call a curveball for the techie?

ROFL

Well I tried getting hold of them today...GOOD LUCK. They're mos on strike so now it looks like my ADSL installation won't happen for at least another couple of weeks. Yay Telkom!!! I hope their shareprice falls enough for their board of directors to start shooting themselves. The thing is, I don't have a Telkom router either, I have the Netgear DG632 and I mean, it's FLIPPEN easy to setup, I just need the moron to install the ADSL line and go away! I'm not going to let him NEAR my PC.

cancel it and opt for the self install. there's absolutely nothing to do on the line itself, and since you already have the router set up all you have to do is call them and have them enable adsl for you at the exchange. and get a microfilter to connect to your phone if you have a phone on the line. save yourself 400 bucks. all the techie does is try and fiddle around on your pc, and then call them and enable it at the exchange which you could have done yourself anyway.

Hell ... when they finally installed my adsl, the techie gave me the router and left ..
I installed it and setup everything, which is why I was a bit confused with this self install option, since thats what I did and I still had to pay R400.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm going to TRY and get hold of someone tomorrow to maybe just "edit" my current order seeing as nothing has been done about it yet. Worst case scenario would be to cancel the whole order and make a new one. But at the rate things are going, it's going to take ages either way. I really DO hate Telkom.
