When I find more info ill post here

Big news so far is that is you migrate your account....to a s.a account, you will get a bucket of ms points...either 800ms or 1600 unconfirmed

More details please. How do we go about migrating?

Q: How do I migrate my account?
1.Sign in to Xbox LIVE and go to My Account page
2.Click on Account Region
3.Select your country
4.Follow the steps outlined. Remember to re-download your content to a USB flash drive or your hard drive before continuing
5.Read and accept the Terms of Use
6.Your account will now be migrated to the LIVE offering in your chosen country
7.Select membership level: Silver or Gold
8.For Gold membership you will required to enter your billing information
9.You are now a member of the official LIVE in South Africa. Congratulations!

"Will I be able to re-download purchased content after migration e.g. games, videos, music and apps?

A: Our goal is to allow members to re-download all of their purchased content after migrating accounts, and we’re actively working to address this. However, at this point in time, once you migrate you will no longer be able to re-download content. Members should re-download purchased content to their hard drive or USB flash drive prior to migrating."

They say "..migrate you will no longer be able to re-download content..", but then they say "...re-download purchased content to their hard drive or USB flash drive prior to migrating.."

Do they mean you must copy your content to a flash drive, before migrating? Or do they mean that you must have all your content on your hard drive before migrating?

Means that if you removed any content that you downloaded, you should re-download them before migrating.

Think I'm gonna hang on with the migration until most of the initial problems are resolved.

I understand it as that all the content that is on your hard drive will stay in place. It is only stuff that you have bought that is not on your hard drive anymore that can't be redownloaded.

migrating can be done on www.xbox.com, login and go to the account page, this is made easier by doing it on the website.

We got free 3months at the event :p hehe very very very well layed out xbox za, free food, open bar and desert :) hehe aswell as education from 3 hiigh up officials of MS

I just read that SA LIVE is available from midnight tonight. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Indeed go ahead let's start this community

So can you buy xbox live vouchers from musica or something now?

Indeed should be avail from tomorrow from many stores "in the gaming scene"

hmmm, no free points for me...

migration went without a hitch, now to wait and see if it was a smart thing to do

i think im just going to create a ZA account instead of migrating. i dont want to lose my access to content i paid for.

Maybe you should have tested it with a throwaway account first... From what I've heard, the XBOX Live Marketplace is a watered-down version of the UK one with far less content. You can't even buy Rock Band tracks at the moment. It's a veritable digital desert. Add to this that the local MS Points are more expensive than mspoints.co.za (which is running at R1/10MSP at the moment) and the XBOX Live Gold subs are more expensive than the UK subs...

Sure, local is lekker and everything, but WTF was MSSA thinking? They can keep their R80 'bribe' to incentivise my port. I see NO REASON WHATESOEVER to port to XBLSA...

Well, the good news is that most of the UK codes work on South African accounts (excluding 4200), so you can still get them cheap (more details here). But the local Marketplace is really empty atm. Microsoft say it's because they're still filling it up, but who knows how long that will take though.

You need to read dude, 1 subs and points from mspoints work...therfor no cost difference then...and mspoints will be handed out when its time they will be handed out tho so just patience. And as for the content its been added patience it will be there, just sad to see there isn't much proudly south africans..thanks for all who did port
