ATI has the fastest graphics card again

fastest untill the 9800 (not 100% sure on numbering) comes out
2GB DDR5...mmmmmmmm
 
LOL I thought this was something useful. Obviously 2 3870s are going to do better than a single 8800Ultra. In much the same way 8800GT's, GTS, 3850's and just about any relevant gfx card released late last year will.

Well if they not better whats the point of putting them on the market in the 1st place:confused:
 
They are currently better for people who dont have crossfire/sli boards....
But then if you are going to buy an expensive card like that then im assuming you have a decent board that supports crossfire/sli anyways.

I know, but its the thought that counts as they have the fastest single PCB card. :D

Any idea if Crossfire will perform better or worse than this X2 card? If the price is below R5000, which it hopefully will be, then there isn't much difference in price compared to a crossfire setup. This card uses less power though and hopefully won't have as many issues as crossfire does with games.

EDIT: The card is clocked at 825Mhz for each core, so it is also faster than a standard 3870.

they probly didn't turn up AA and Anistrophic filtering yet. ATI has been making the faster cards for a long time, yet they simply fail when you turn up AA and Anistrophic filtering.

Quad Crossfire won't Own 8800Ultra SLi. Quad GFX don't scale well at all.
If you didn't know 7950GX2 support quad SLI and those results were worse than the 7900GTX SLI

You probably didn't read the review yet, almost every game is tested in 4XAA.
 
no such, the 3870x2 would still come out tops. Besides at 8XAA the games would likely be unplayable on the 8800Ultra anyway, so what's the point in that?

I can crank up all the fsaa / ansiotropic filtering on my HD3870 and the framerate hit is minimal.

Older games like HL2 lost coast do not even show any performance hit with or without full aa and ansio so the okes at ATI have been spending some time on half-decent drivers :D
