Ok so I booked us at Buffelspoort for next week. Sister in-law is here from England and wants to go "camping".

I booked us 2 chalets. Now I'm trying to figure out if they have fishing there at the resort and if I have to drive to Harties to go fish... Doesn't seem like there is lots to do apart from swimming. I want to be able to slip away from the wife, kids and family members with a cooler box and fishing rods :D

Is the Buffelspoort dam not just up the road?

That is what I'm trying to establish. I haven't been there before. Now I read online they keep talking about Buffelspoort dam. No idea if it's part of the resort, further down the road or at Harties itself :o

It's not in the resort but 5km up the road. I've stayed there twice for 7 days at a time... (not at the dam!).

Harties is about 30km away.

Nice place? Seemed nice enough for the Sister in-law. only place I could find on such short notice within driving distance from Pretoria. Not to badly priced as well.

Not part of the resort but is close by - if you go past the entrance of AKTV ..@ stop street turn left and in less than 5mins u will see the Dam (on the left)

There are a few nice places in the area , a popular one is the Mountain Sanctuary Park

And you don't have to leave the resort for supplies... even the bottle store was on site. (when we were there!)

:) Nice. Ok so I'll hide my fishing rods on the back of the bakkie when I'm packing. Going to be a long arse few days. Mother in-law is also going

Stick them in the pool and then go hide away in the sports bar... should be good cricket on telly.

If you have time... there's HUGE carp. Also nice bass. When you enter the dam site, right infront of you close to the water is a big tree, try there for bass.

Now this is what I like to hear :) Thanks man.

Btw, you know what the daily rate is for that damn?

Seriously man. The "best" fishing spots is way over on the right hand side, past the camp sites. This is one of SA's dams with the cleanest water. Used to go boating quite often. And feedback a pleasure... I live in Rustenburg so know most of the spots around. :)
