If you get fed up, you can simply stop the payment and that is that, when u need them you pay and reactivation is instant. No blacklisting whatsoever. You gotta hand it to them thought, this is very good. I moved to Fibre so this month i am not paying rain... will only pay them when i have a need to.. i also received 45 days free of charge from vox so will be paying for my fibre end of June..... The no contract business model esp for the r250 package and the unlimited one is very good.

I'm about to reactivate with Rain to test how things have hopefully improved. My sim will be arriving today. My first run with them started well and was happy with the connection but it eventually slowed down to a crawl. Been a little over a year now, lets hope enough people have cancelled so that the tower is less congested

That makes 2 of us. Mine is supposed to be arriving this morning. But I'm not holding my breath, everyone is home.

I'd give my left nut for fibre. But located in KZN, so that isn't coming anytime soon

So you not going to pay for a service you used just because you feel like it? PAY FOR WHAT YOU USE ONLY FAIR!

Nope. Not gonna pay. will pay when i feel like using it. You do not pay, you do not get a SERVICE and KLAR.

If there was any ounce of fairness left, thousands of rain users would not be shafted.... Still being made to pay for a service they do not have. Only fair too.

So after a little battle with the router, popped the Rain sim in and was getting about 4Mbps. Changed the setting to 4G only and that jumped to around 8/9 Mbps. Not going to blow anyones hair back, but not bad. The ping has been consistently in the 30/40 region.
Did a speed test this morning at 6 am and got around 15 Mbps. So second first impression has been a happy one, long may it continue.

I think you spoke too soon. I am not going to jinx it, but give it some time heheheh.

My speed has been good for some time now, very happy with rain at the moment.

Hi @rain_mobile
As this thread deals with reactivations, thought I'd use it for my query.

I'm considering reactivating a Rain SIM I last tested in August 2019, mainly to test current speeds.
When I first got the SIM and had the original 7 days available in 2019, speeds were terrible so I never signed up for anything at the time.

My question is, would it be possible for you (ie. the relevant dept.) to reactivate the SIM for literally a day at most, so I can do a few speedtests (off peak - day & night) to see if things have changed ?
I might thereafter consider signing up for the R250 / 19 hr. per day package.

I've logged into my account and the original SIM is still displayed, but that it just has to be reactivated.
Would that same SIM card work, or would it require a replacement ?
Either way, the Rain SIM would be used in a Huawei B525 4G router.

By the way, the map shows I'm near to about 10 Rain sites, the closest being 1.02 kms & others being just under 2kms, then a few at 2.x kms away from me.

Can you answer the few questions above, before I possibly send you the cell no. / SIM IMEI no. for reactivation.

Thanks.

Hi @BayCityRoller

could you please send me PM with your email address.

if the card was cancelled i would not be able to reinstate the card , a new card would need to be ordered, but i will be able to advise much better and answer a bit more accurately once you provide me with the email address.

Thanks for your reply @rain_mobile

After pasting in some additional info. below, I'll send the PM with my email address.

Below are notes I made at the time of stopping use of the SIM and also when I received it, so I certainly don't think I cancelled the card, but perhaps someone in your office might have ?

I await your reply ; please feel free to post it in this thread instead of the PM, assuming no personal info. included.

On 7th Aug 2019 @ approx. 17h30 :

Under :
manage your SIM

I switched the spend limit to off :
spend limit is currently turned off.

... and under :
change your spend limit
It's now "No limit set", because cannot get 4g for more than a few minutes a day where we are

The 19 unlimited off-peak hours are also switched to OFF.

------------------------

The SIM card was delivered on the 6th (or 5th?) Aug 2019 - hardly made use of this :
Enjoy free unlimited data on us until 12 August 2019 23:59:59

... used less than 1GB trying to do some speed tests.
