I have customers that complain they don’t receive attachments from one person that sends them emails. It was Outlook Express as the receiver and outlook as the sender, I could not figure out what was wrong, tried as plain text and html email, because it was just one sender we created a Gmail account and she send the email there.

Now I have multiple emails sender’s attachments not showing an in outlook (different customer than above) it is outlook 2003 with sp3. The attachments show up in the bottom off the email as hieroglyphics.
Any ideas, even for the express one, I hate it if I don’t have an answer?

Is the mail coming to the inbox or Junkmail folder? If it's in Junkmail, send to to Inbox.
I noticed that if it's in Junkmail, the message comes through but not the attached. When you move it to Inbox, the attachment is included.

Mail goes into inbox, both customers have NOD installed so dont suspect antivirus

Howzit,

have you tried doing a OLK file clean? (outlook temp files)

As you mention that the recipient is using Outlook Express I think you will probably find an attachment called winmail.dat in the message. I have come across this many times over the years and this is the best explanation I could find for you.

Winmail.dat files are in fact TNEF attachments (transport neutral encapsulation format) sent by the Microst Outlook or Microsoft Exchange applications. Users from other e-mail clients cannot read them, neither their attachment, as the attachment and winmail.dat file may be combined into a single winmail.dat.

I use this http://www.kopf.com.br/winmail/ to extract the attachment from the winmail.dat file.
