Attempting to Sell Wood

Hi Guys, I hope I am posting this in the correct section of MyBB.

I hope to get pointed in the right direction by someone regarding selling of a Norfolk Pine (Could be a Agathus Pine) as I am not a tree fundi. Basically I have this tree that stands over 5 storey's high, we are paying a large amount of money to get the tree Felled and are hoping to recoop the costs. It is going to get cut in Slabs or "trunks" as there is nowhere for the tree to fall down so it has to be cut in pieces as they make their way down.

If you were in my position who would you approach to sell these "trunks" ? They would be perfect for bar stools and bar tables I would think. Is there anyone out there that would be interested in this offer ? Any advice would be awesome!

I was at a place near Hartebeespoort dam last week that is selling these type of things. They have a table that is 6 meters long out of a solid slab of wood. They also sell loose planks.
 
Mr Big T. Thanks for the input bud. Do you remember the name of the place by any chance ? Maybe advertise on Gumtree aswell
 
Almost got hold of SAPPI here in Maritzburg, no one answer the phone obviously

If someone sell loose planks they cut up trees to sell the planks. My logic tells me that they could possibly be interested. Some of the planks I saw was at least 4 meters long
 
Sorry Mr Big T ... I was just reflecting on Shake&Bake's comment and amplifying his innuendo.

The place is in Chameleon Village it is called Knysna Forest Woods. Call Wally on 082-338-4036. Sorry for the delay I had to get the details from someone who had a death in the family
 
Why do you want the tree cut down? 5 Storey's high is big, and I can presume a beautiful tree!

I would be most interested in a large solid slab of pine. (that sounds so wrong)

Thanks again Mr Big T, just got hold of Wally now, he seems real interested in the tree. Going to MMS him some photos and take it from there. Thanks for the input guys!

Hey Nicci

It really is beautiful and a real shame aswell. The tree is well over 15 or 20 years I assume. Unfortunately because we have small businesses on the property the tree poses a threat when the weather gets really bad, the tree also sits on the servitude between ours and the next property who want to build a dividing wall :(
