Hi all,

Could you please comment below and post the speeds that you typically get on:

- Torrent downloads during the day (office hours).
- Torrent downloads after hours & on weekends.
- International HTTP/FTP downloads during office hours.
- International HTTP/FTP downloads after hours.

Could you also let me know how much data you normally can get through in a month (without making MWEB angry ;) ).

I'm considering going for this account and need some info from anyone making use of it. If you can give me any other details, that would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance :D

your subject/title is deceptive, it sounds like MWEB wanted to tell me to ftho. :P
Secondly, don't pirate, and you'll find the internet works great.

Our 4mbps at work generally handles http and ftp at 300-340KB/s, afterhours included.
Torrents are wildly varying, from what I saw. I dream of the day ISP's manage to block all torrent traffic :-)

Except there are a number of places that use torrents as it was intended, to distribute legitimate material. The World of Warcraft patcher is a torrent client, many linux distributions (don't laugh) actually recommend the use of torrents to download ISO's, and I've seen a number of other places using or at least recommending the use of torrents to download whatever software they were offering.

I'm downloading the latest WoW patches via torrents (With Blizzard as the primary seeders) right now.

I dont typically watch the speeds all day long, it depends on the overall traffic for the network tho. Some days it flies, others not.... Sites like Hotfile, Rapid Share etc are shaped during the day, but on the odd occasion it still runs fast. Torrents go quite well after hours, and hover under 1mb during the day. If I wanted to go ape, I probably could do 200gig in a month, but I think I probably average between 50 and 90gig...

why not just call mweb and ask them direct... that way your safe!

I find Mwebs Speed overall quite good. I dont use torrents, but I use news servers instead.

During the day.. is virtually a no go for p2p.. but after hours it does speed up.. On weekends I even get full line speed at times.

However. Http is always good.

- Torrent downloads during the day (office hours)

These are poor to non-existent. Of course results will vary wildly, but I can generally expect no more than 50Kb/s during the day.

2)
- Torrent downloads after hours & on weekends.

Also, results vary. However 80% of the time I get close to 280Kb/s, sometimes higher. After hours however is a loose term as sometimes those speeds are only realized after 12 at night.

4)
- International HTTP/FTP downloads during office hours.

Thanks to all for the input :) I'll phone them, but it's always good to hear from the people using the product...
