Hey guys :)

I updated my routers firmware last night, hoping that it would tell me my "attainable rate" so that I could see for myself what the dslam supports. (Which it still doesn't show, but thats besides the point)

Anyways, after the update my SNR dropped from about 29ish to 17.1 but the attenuation also dropped from about 48 to 43? :wtf:

This can't be normal right? Unless it was showing the incorrect values before the update?

My modem is a Belkin 7333 wireless G something something by the way.

Thanks in advance for the input

What I have found in my experience is that the attenuation and snr displayed is the values achieved at the time of connecting your modem. In my house, attenuation is usually lower in the morning and a bit higher in the evening (I dont know why, but thats the case). Your values probably changed because of such a factor.

I don't think its that, my snr and attenuation values are reasonably consistent, with the snr dropping a few points during the day, but still was around 28ish at its lowest. The new values only came about after the firmware update....

Have you looked at what profile the modem is using to sync. I have noticed similar changes when going from G.Dmt to ADSL2+. Wondering if the firmware update changed you over from G.Dmt to ADSL2+
