Hi guys.

Ok so i came across this thread

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...uation-Rates?p=3100772&viewfull=1#post3100772

about SnR and attenuation "which i know very little about" and decided to check what my SnR/attenuation margins are!
So on my D-Link 2750u router i went to status/statistics and found this

Mode: ADSL_G.dmt
Type: ATM
Status: Up

Downstream Upstream
Line Coding(Trellis): On On
SNR Margin (dB): 243 130
Attenuation (dB): 235 145
Output Power (dBm): 79 59
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 10720 988
Rate (Kbps): 4096 512
D (interleaver depth): 1 1
Delay (msec): 0.13 0.25

HEC Errors: 0 0
OCD Errors: 0 0
LCD Errors: 0 0

Total ES: 0 0

From my understanding, my SnR seems to be on a good level, which stated on that thread mentioned above should be anything above 29db which is outstanding. But, when i looked at my attenuation, that is suppose to be below 60db,mine is 235db downstream and 145db upstream. So now i would just like to know am i missing something here? or is my attenuation just really bad and should i call telkom to check it out?

Btw: Using an 4meg uncapped account and my ISP is Telkom

The 2750u stats are missing a decimal point in the dB values thus:

SNR Margin (dB): 24.3 13.0
Attenuation (dB): 23.5 14.5
Output Power (dBm): 7.9 5.9

... your stats are fine.

Yup and since you are G.dmt mode your stats will improve if you are ever moved to ADSL2+

What is ADSL2+ ? Never heard of that before

Check ADSL standards.
Basically ADSL2+ is a newer version of ADSL, it's faster.
