ATV400 TV Box issues

So I received my winning prize.

The item looks awesome and well built and very very small.

Some issues:

The box booted into Android fine on first start, I opened and tested some apps, connected up network and such etc.
Started xbmc and connected my ext 2tb via usb, the thing then froze.
I left it for 30min, cam back but was still frozen.

So pulled the power.

Now the box starts (blue power button shines) BUT all I see is black screen and no interface?

Ok, had to reset and reinstall firmware to ge toast black screen.

The problem appears whenever I attach a usb drive or my external hard drive via usb.
