No. Not as a primary car. If youre going to keep it as a collectors item, then sure, because it will increase in value.

Last ever Golf MK1

Ofc it will increase, but then you need to lock it up somewhere for about 25 years with no km's on the clock.

Not worth the investment :D

You reckon it'll increase? :/

Interesting

Well, I assume it would.

Not that I know much about that, but I would think being a true limited edition (not some stupid sticker the dealer sticks on, I know about that cos I made those stickers for a dealer once or twice) and having factory fitted extra's would make it increase in value.

Also if you take into account the amount of people that would pull the car through their arse and the amount of cars that will be written off in accidents, the number of these cars would decrease, therefore making the value of the remaining ones more valuable.

I heard a story once (it might be an urban legend) of a little old lady that had a mint condition 1984 citi golf. VW got hold of her and litterally swapped the golf for a top of the range passat. cool story.

Why? Could they not have just popped a new one out of the factory machine?
Its their cars and their factories and they're still making them(here atleast) so wtf?

I remember something along these lines, but if I recall it wasn't a MkI Golf... can't recall what the old dear had. :(

As for spending R225k on teh lastest CITI - I'd like to beat the winning bidder with a stick.

They do say it's for charity though:

"All money raised from the auction will be donated to Ubuntu Education Fund. Ubuntu supports communities in the townships of Port Elizabeth and provides over 40,000 people with life-saving health and educational resources and services."

It was supposed to have been one of the first citi's ever to be produced, one of the launch models in 1984.

I dont buy this. If this is legit...why has there been no press about this sale etc? Surely for the last Citi, they would have gone all out? I call scam.

That is NOT, and I will repeat this at the top of my voice, NOT a Mk1 Golf...

Its a ShyttiGolf.

There is a big difference. A Mint condition Mk1 is rarer than hens teeth in this country.
