This is one of those my choice has come down to. The one I have my eye on is a 06 model.

Really enjoyed the drive, that 2.0 has great power!

Yes I know its common, but still it is a great car!

Can anyone who owns one give some feedback please?

Running costs out of plan (NOT at the agents), Insurance, consumption? Reliability?

if in a bmw, audi, merc battle i was asked to choose sides; i would be a bmw man.

however i recently got myself an audi (not yours). my previous car being a 3 series beemer. i love the car.

helped in part i have the turbo version of that engine.

i guess i am just saying that i am thoroughly enjoying audi and it is likely to turn out to be a good choice.
 
I just bought an 09 1.9TDi and loving it. A friend recently bought the exact same model you are interested in and also very happy. Cannot comment on maintenance cost, but I'm sure if you avoid the dealers you will be fine. And there is no turbo to worry about!

Only thing I don't like about it compared to a Golf 5 fsi is the lack of curtain airbags. Some might say I'm being fussy but my aunt will probably still be alive if she had them on her car.
 
You will also probably get a newer Golf fsi for the same price, essentially the same car.

Just my thoughts.
 
Not following, I had a sportback certainly had curtain airbags.

Only prob with Audi is that Golf feels roomier, has a higher roof.
