Audi A3 Sportback - what tyres?

SWAMBO's A3 needs new tyres (17"), would like to know what you guys would recommend?

The car came new with Dunlop SP Sport, but they are very noisy on the road, so looking for something a bit quieter?

I put some Continental Comfort something or others on my A3 a few months back - no complaints. I had the Dunlop SP Sport on my GTI and yeah they were noisey - but pretty good.

The Conti Comfort's actually cost a bit more than the Conti-Sports for some reason.
Seeing you are local - maybe pop into TygerWheel at Somerset Mall - they seem to know their stuff.

Also remember what you use the car for - if you do the wheel-spinning pull-aways, tyre squealing cornering etc - then perhaps nice quiet comfortable tyres are not what you should be getting ... though, having said that .. I have yet to get these Comfort's to make much of a noise

Thanks! Not much of a robot racer, so anything that is quiet and aids fuel consumption would be good

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric. They last longer than the softer rubber, but are still decent tyres. They're cheaper than the Pirelli's and last longer, however you won't get that grip when they're brand new (+/- 5000km).

EDIT: can't find the quote now, but I was looking at R1400 a tyre.

Guys, thanks for the advice. SWAMBO got the new Eagle F1s yesterday and I drove the A3 for the first time this morning.

Wow! What a difference from the Dunlop's - the ride is smoother, quieter. In fact so quiet that the A3 is starting to sound like my Defender

Jah, but don't skimp on tyres. Remember, that's the only contact your vehicle has with the road!

Have the Yokohama AVS Decibels on my A3 Sportback, super quite and decent milage.+-50 000. But I was also recommended the Goodyear F1's, so would prob also be shweet. cheers

Pirellis got highest ratings on the consumer satisfaction report in (I think it was) CAR.
