Hi guys I am looking to buy a car and had a choice between these 2. Overall which one is better in terms of fuel economy, reliability and running costs etc? Any personal opinions or views if you have owned them ? Thanks in advance

Is there any issues that you guys have experienced? Does the A4 B8 come with sat nav as a standard or is it an extra? The E90 with iDrive Sat nav is pretty rare to find.

Get the Audi.

The E90 3 Series annoyed the crap out of me.
Had one in China, was a horrible car. Plasticy interior, Bing bing bing all the time (open door, bings, unlock seatbelt, bings etc).
I've had 3 BMW's - 7 Series (loved it), 2 x 3 Series - 320i E90 (annoyingly bad), E36 328i Convertible (fun).

Gone back to Merc now though - current car - CLS350 :)

Audi. The interior alone is far better.

Not a good time to buy though, B9 coming out soon, and B8/B8.5 prices are plummeting (second hand). Don't get taken advantage of by a dealer who does not think you know this. They are trading in B8s with under 100,000km at around R130,000 and want to charge up to R200,000 - mad.

+1, interior is better... Haven't driven an A4, just two A6s and the steering on the Audis are much softer. BMW is sportier than Audi

The A6 does have a much softer steering that < A6. I have also had 2 A6's and 1.5 months back traded my second A6 for an A5. While the A5's steering is still very good, the A6 was a lot better.

there is no comparison. I am a bmw fan but I advise you to go for the audi. even the b7 audi is better than the e90 bmw's. as far as I am concerned, the e90 bmw is the least attractive bmw after the e36 shape

Nav is included as part of the top end MMI system in other countries, while here it is an optional piece on most models that also includes a larger display. Still.. 20 grand for nav is a bit much on any car in my mind.

Oh ok, my main concern, how is the fuel economy? Is it light on fuel comapared to the E90? Thanks for all the responses so far :)

I might consider an older A6 (C6) as it fits in my price range but still prefer the sleek looks o the B8

Would really depend on the specific model. Both have good 2.0 TDI options, but even then it is really hard to say as the previous owner could have driven the car incorrectly and screwed up future consumption. Audi should be slightly lighter on fuel though I would estimate.

My first two A4s got me on one tank from PTA to Cape Town! The A6 reached Wocester, and the Q7 De Doorns.

All of them Diesels,

1.9TDi 3.8-4,5l/100 cruise control at 115 most of the way.
2.0TDi 4.2-5.1l/100

There is a special economical 2.0TDI engine, and there is the normal one, the kw differs, but if you want the fuel to last, you know which one to choose.
