Anybody know where I can acquire these locally? I want it delivered if possible. I think Zakkspeed in Goodwood might have something like this, but I have my doubts.

anyhow what I need is kind of like this

but instead of male RCA's i want, nay need, female RCA's, like this

the purpose of this plug would be to be able to hook up my earphones DIRECTLY to my PS2. without the need for an external mixer, amplifier, hifi, etc...

any thoughts?

You can always get the first cable and then simply use two female-to-female RCA converters on each male RCA connector to give you two female RCA outputs.

(3.5mm F Headphone) - (RCA M) - (F Converter F) - (RCA F)

(RCA M)

(F Converter F)

(RCA F)

*** The female-to-female RCA converter is quite common
** M = Male, F = Female

that would work too yes, but then it means getting more than one item, hehehe...

i have LOADS of bits and bobs at home, but i want a nice neat thingie to pop in my PS bag.

also, you are assuming that i actually can get either of those items!!! oh, how i loath SA sometimes...

Are your headphones amplified? with a volume control? 'cos otherwise you're wasting your time...

ps2 rca output requires amplifier?

does that mean my tv has a built in amplifier? its an ancient tv!!

RCA output is a 1V line output with no attenuation. Headphone output usually has a small pre-amp and volume control (attenuator).

If a TV has speakers...it has an amplifier.

hmm, well amplified earphones arent hard to get hold of... nice surround sound set might also do :D

just need those converters

I can easily build such a cable from parts I can get from Communica here in Pretoria... Isn't there some sort of electronic-parts store in CT?

that zackspeed i mentioned yes. they have all kinds of goodies... was just hoping that there is someplace in SA that stocks the cables i have in those links. drat

Radio Discotheque - Voortrekker rd Maitland or RD2PRO nearby
Paul Bothner - N1 Value Centre Goodwood
Zakspeed

just don't except it to be delivered.

Not the type of thing you'd find already made up - you'll have to do a custom job. Simply buy an inline minijack socket, 2x inline female RCA sockets + a short length of shielded cable, and make it up. (If you're not handy with the soldering iron, ask someone who is...)

For the stuff, the shops above might have it all. But try Communica in Woodstock. Cheap, and they'll have everything you need. You might even be lucky and get the stuff at Brights in Boston. (Yebo would be my last resort - they're generally very expensive.)

i made one like that up but zakspeed had them when i was there over xmas at least i'm sure i saw some there. If u near Bergvliet or Tokai there is SoundWorks they on Main Road in Tokai or Omega electronics in Diep River i forget the roads name if u heading towards town on the main road u turn right before Tramways Villiage over the bridge and Omega is on ur right. Both places will make one up for u if they dnt have them as standard stock.
