Hey Guys,

Any idea what audio codec is used by the SABC DVB-T trials? From reading the forums i gather that they are using MPEG4/H264 for video encoding. Also the signal is unencrypted, therefore it stands to reason that any dvb card/tuner that supports MPEG4 should work.

Thou i am trying to gather what the audio codec is before i purchase a DVB tuner.

hi there
mind if i ask you why so eager to move over to DVB.
I understand its the next thing in TV etc, i just ask because i wanted to move over as well but chose not to because the implementation is so slow switch on was supposed to be nov 08 and they didnt and i never heard anything else, then origanaly it was planned to be fully implented by 2012 (as in cancell regular UHF /VHF transission) and in feb they decided to move to 2013 and if i purchased early my hardware might be obsolete, and then if they do bring it in it will have to be susadized and i will end up paying more as oposed to less.

just a thougt :)

Hey man, i dont have a TV, Just an HD projector hooked up to my PS3 and dont want to spend $ on a TV just for the Worldcup, nor do i want to just buy a setopbox/dstv. So figured the most economical option would be to get the Play Tv (Ps3 tv tuneR). From the latest updates it seems that the video would at least be supported (it now supports both Mpeg2/Mpeg4), i just need to confirm the audio codecs.

AFter much digging (i.e reading the actual regulations and specifications for STB's).... the Audio codec is AAC V2 / AAC+....
