Hi

Excuse my ignorance.Does anybody know if it it would be possible to have a set of speakers setup outside for a braai area that are connected to a home thatre system but do not play sound unless switched on(are on a nother channel).Does anybody knwo how this works or if it is even possible. So you having a braai ,you could switch the outside speakers on,but they are not normally on,when you watching TV with surround sound.Bearing in mind the lounge and braai area are close(through same door).

Regards

If your avr supports zone 2 then it's easy. Otherwise it might not be...

Like Sinbad says, if your AVR supports zone 2 then easy peasy..

If not, then you'll need to run cables and probably have some kind of switching mechanism to redirect your front speakers to outside...

I'm currently setting up a similar thing at home, but I thankfully have a 2nd AVR so will be able to seperate the audio streams easily.

lol, years ago I did something similar.

my solution was very ghetto

I put a light switch onto each speaker wire then glued them to a wooden frame and glued some cd cover plastic to the tops of the switches so that they can be turned off and on with one click.

If your av receiver does not have two zones (A & B speakers) then your other option is a speaker switch box.
