Hi guys,

I have an ASUS M2A-VM HDMI mobo. It comes with a HDMI/AV/S/SP card which fits into a PCIe slot. However I installed a Graphics Card into my PCIe slot and hence cannot use this card.

I was battling with a glitch where the "found new hardware" window kept poping up. I found out that this was the machine looking for this card. I installed an updated driver via the internet feature and the "found new hardware" window now dissapears.

However I cannot get any sound from my mobo. Any ideas?

Thanks
Vic

In BIOS I have the ability to enable the HDMI card for audio, nothing else, and yes it is enabled.

** I assume that this is done under the Advanced section and then under the configuration in BIOS**

I don't know if you had made the same mistake as I did.

For HD onboard sound card. You need to first install some Microsoft HD patch, before you install the Soundcard driver, if you do it other way around, you won't get the sound card working properly.

Try disabling it, since the card is no longer installed

What Microsoft HD patch?

Microsoft UAA Bus driver for High Definition Audio,2.9MB.
Just check your MB driver CD/DVD and see if you got one....

OK, just found the correct step to install soundcard driver for you MB:
1) Install AMD CHIPSETS DRIVER
2) Install KB888111 (UAA bus driver)
3) Install Soundcard driver

Good Luck!!

i don't want to use the HDMI card though, I just want to get sound from my mobo (onboard) ... is this the right step for that?

Won't harm for you to try since the PCI-EX card for HDMI is no more plug into the MB.
Remember first uninstall the sound card driver if it's installed already.

I went to the device manager and find the following under sound:
= ATI function driver for High Definition Audio - ATI AA01
= Audio Codecs
= Legacy Audio Drivers
= Legacy Video Capture Devices
= Media Control Devices
= Realtek High Definition Audio
= Video Codecs

What do I uninstall ?

Go to control panel, add/remove programs and remove relevant driver (ATI function driver for High Definition Audio--this is probably your HDMI, if you don't want it. Realtek High Definition Audio is your onboard sound)from there.

If you have disabled HD Audio then you can remove all of the above as windows will reinstall whatever is still enabled when you reboot...
