Hey guys,

I know there is another thread discussing sound but I'm curious to find out whether one of the higher end Logitechs (Z5450 or Z5500) is preferable to a low-mid range 5.1 surround sound set - something similar to the ones mentioned in the other post.

I'm looking to purchase one of the two and can't decide whether I should save for the Logitechs or settle for something a bit less expensive. Logitechs worth waiting for? or are they charged a premium because of their 'gaming speakers' positioning and not worth the extra cash?

Thanks!

i think that if you have the money or the patience to wait and gather up the money, then the z5500's are the way to go. if however you don't have the money or you require the dvd, upscaling, radio or usb features of the other (cheaper!) sets, then go for those instead.

I have the Z680's, which are the model just before the 5500's. Pretty much the same, apart from the looks. They are simply awesome. Coupled to an Audigy card the sound quality, volume and sheer brilliance of the surround experience playing either music or games is something I haven't had with any other sound system, PC or otherwise. Nothing in my experience comes close. If you can afford them, buy them. I promise you you won't regret it. Just don't ever see how loud they can go, 'cos the neighbors WILL call the police, and you may damage the stucture of your house.:D
