Hi! I have just installed a sound bar, connecting TV and DSTV Explorer. My audio volume of recorded programmes is softer than live prigrammes. Would appreciate any advice.

My audio is working as per normal across Catch-up, Recorded and Live, how is your decoder connected to the rest of your setup.

I have audio running via HDMI Cable from Decoder to TV and Optical Cable Linking from TV to Soundbar.

Have you tried using the HDMI ARC ports to connect the soundbar and TV. This way you won't need a seperate connection to the decoder and the soundbar will respond to all your remotes.

Soundbar and TV are both LG and communicate/relay commands and power state via the optical link to eliminate the soundbar remote.

On the day of the install I could not find a 2nd HDMI Cable in my cable bin, so that I can run the HDMI via the Soundbar. Had the soundbar on Wireless Link for a while, but after a firmware upgrade the audio sounded tin-ish/hollow, so I decided to use the included optical cable and never had an issue since, even-though the sound issue was fixed with the next firmware update.

As a side note, I was shock to find out recently that the ARC function is not included as standard on all the newer model TVs, especially dumb TVs.

You can try this on the Explora menu:
Help/Settings/User Preferences/Video Audio/Audio Output
If it is set to Variable, change to fixed as it will not output Dolby Digital if set to Variable.

Thanks for all the inputs (Excuse the pun). I connected the HDMI cable from ARC port to tv, HDMI cable from DSTV to power bar. Problem solved.
