Hi peeps

I have a problem. The thing is i play movies through my PC to my tv. I am using a HDMI cable. The sound is on the TV but goes away and comes back again. Dont know how to fix it. I am using Windows 7.
The other thing i would like to know, can you play the sound on the tv with the HDMI cable and play games and here the audio through your on board sound on the motherboard.

so if i understand correctly, you want the sound to play from the pc speakers and the tv speakers at the same time? it can be done, but you will need some sort of outboard 'relay' function.... (if the tv has a line out you can connect that to the line in of the pc..... 50/50 chance that it will work)

the game itself will only output to the default audio device, this is an os limitation.

So do i have to buy a outboard relay. Why i am asking is, my girl watch her stuff and i want to play online games, but the sound is the problem. so there i no way i can make the HDMI sound primary to movies and the onbaord sound primary to games? And do you know why the sound from the HDMI comes and goes away?

if you look in the media player that you use. You should be able to select which device will output the audio, leave the onboard soundcard as default and just change in the media program. most media programs have this function. I know VLC has it

oh ok now that makes better sense, i thought that you wanted to play the same sound source through both audio interfaces.....

if you want to separate the two then it is possible if the software you use can select which soundcard to use, as flipper has mentioned..... games always send to default audio device...

so if you can configure the application used for whatever it is you are watching over hdmi then it should work without any conflicts....

I dont know why the sound drops from time to time, havent had much experience with hdmi interface.

Thanks for all the reply's, i will see if i can switch it in VLC player. Will keep you people updated
