Bridget Mohlala, the embattled former CFO of the Independent Communications Authority of SA (ICASA), has been quietly working for the office of the auditor-general for over a year, while a case of theft of R110 000 hangs over her head.

The office of the auditor-general has confirmed it employed Mohlala, a chief suspect in the theft of R110 000 from a safe at the regulator's offices in 2005, as the auditor-general's business executive for operations and transaction management.

“Bridget Mohlala has been an employee of the auditor-general since December 2005,” says spokesperson Africa Boso.

I guess they are going to fire her if she is found guilty and replace her with Tony Yengeni!

Maybe government recognised her skills in stealing and plundering, and thought "here's someone who can help us!"

The allegations against Mohlala are still just allegations at this stage. What is becoming clear is that we need all sides of the story in the case of the missing R110 000.

The parliamentary portfolio committee needs to haul the entire leadership (and ex-leadership) of ICASA before parliament to answer the questions that the public are asking. For pete's sake, all we want is the truth.

rpm, can MyADSL perhaps send a request to the chair of the PPCC asking them to take action here and get the answers that the public deserves?

Remember, politicians (and civil servants) work for us.

Obviously not knowing which direction(s) the SAPS investigation has taken and where it has ended up going, it's difficult to rely on the 'an arrest warrant was issued' statement alone, in order to extrapolate alleged guilt on the part of Bridget Mohlala.

I would like to point out that a certain incompetent narcoleptic, shortly after having been appointed as an IncompetentCASA councillor, threw weight about to get rid of Bridget Mohlala, alleging contravention of the Public Finances Act or whatever it is - basically pointing a finger in one direction only, now I have to wonder if that was an attempt to divert attention away from one or more potential suspects, and if Bridget Mohlala might actually be largely innocent on the charge of theft that SAPS have presumably been investigating - otherwise why was Bridget Mohlala never arrested after the warrant had been issued...?
 
Found it very interesting that the AG slams icasa and more especially their CFO and then goes and hire her in secret

- 400 members of parliament
- each member sits on one or more parliamentary committee (eg committee on defence/comms/education/housing etc etc)
- it is in the committees that most of parliament's work is done - they listen to the stakeholders, negotiate the writing of laws in the relevant sector, review how the relevent sector is operating etc
- the ppcc is composed of about 15 MPs
 
how come she is allowed too moonlight. she cannot work for two companies at the same time. i know that is in the PFMA act, as i used to be an auditor for a number of government institutions....luckily i escaped.

i sell a rat, lay a complaint....she'll be in *** for the moonlighting more than the theft of dosh if its true
