Aussies chasing after SA cops

...very cynical move by Australians nonetheless...about on par with poaching medical staff.

*gets a visual image of GrandTheftAuto: San Andreas pc game*
from walking around the gang banging idlewood neighborhood --> to cruising the friendly streets of san fiero with all its offerings.

good for them :)

Western Australia, lol.

It depends on where they are deployed - if they are needed in Darwin, then, credentials will be minimal (its a bit backward there) lol.

Perth - You'd need to be a bit of a decent cop.
Note - SA cops would probably be a bit bored if they decided to work in OZ. Although the working conditions will be better.

The unemployment figure in Western Australia is less than 3%

Yep, boring. You expect that its mostly unemployed people that commit crimes, so with only 3% unemployment, WTF is there to do?

The R280K per annum is nothing compared to the kickbacks and bribes these cops get over here...:D

Why would a white cop want to work for this racist gvt? They cannot get promotion and the SAPS are falling apart. It would be in their long term interest to go. At least the Ausie gvt will look after them.

Not sure I understand...

It is one thing to expect them to be noble and not ask our people to come work there, but I have heard some terrible suggestions that our government should ban people from leaving... Now that is just asking for trouble.

Freedom of movement is a basic human right in my view. If it isn't it should be.

but I have heard some terrible suggestions that our government should ban people from leaving.

I hope not. Of course, given the proclivity of this government for absolute control over our lives, I would not put it beyond them to do a USSR on us.

Maybe this gvt should then wake up huh ?

From the point of view of the people [1], we have a pretty good idea of what government should be doing.

But from the point of view of the government, what is the function of government?

Think about that for a while.

Koos

[1] That's us, more or less.

Brain drain, is not the fault of the developed countries, it is the fault of our government for not valuing their own people as much as the Australian government does.

The responsibility stops with our government. I will certainly not stay here, chances are I will have a Masters degree December 2009. Would South-Africa value me more than Canada?

(yes I know degrees are not the end all, practical experience and common sense and so forth, I satisfy those criteria also)
