What happens if you get stopped with an automatic licence but you are driving a manual car?

What with all these dodgy license questions? Just do it right & don't endanger others.

:fail:
Paddle shifts is still an automatic transmission.

It's the same as driving a car when you have a license for a scooter. Aka no license at all for what you're driving.

My uncle has an automatic license and has been stopped numerous times in a manual vehicle, never had a problem

some people pass out with a big truck because it is easier to pass and legal.

since February 2012 you need to pass out with both to drive both.

@OP: they all most never check that much detail on the card. I've seen them check a out dated license disk and let the driver pass.

It looks the same, but has a code listed under vehicle restrictions, same as driver restriction: glasses.

@ beans100, currect. They caught on that people did that and changed it. It's better actually, driving a truck != driving a car, even though there are many similarities.

The biggest problem is that if you are driving a manual car and have an automatic licence, you are not legal and hence not insured.

While you might not care about your car, you will care when the third party sues you for all their costs for which you might be fully liable. I have seen this destroy people who have lost their house and all their assets because they drove uninsured.

Thank You guys, just wanted to expand my knowledge. Will be passing out in manual soon :p

...driving a truck != driving a car, .

Can see this is an IT forum :p

As others have stated, your main concern should not be the traffic guys but rather the insurance i.e. yours and the other party's as they will pickup on it and it will cost you dearly should you be in an accident with a vehicle you are not licensed to drive. Essentially the same as being in an accident without a license.
